Amazing UCT at Fish River Canoe Marathon

Two UCT students are excelling in this year’s Fish River Canoe Marathon.Today was the start of the canoe marathon, a two day 80km race which doubles as SA K2 River Marathon Champs, held in Craddock. After the first days racing, UCT paddler Ben Biggs is coming 2nd (with Ali glass) and another UCT student, Stu Maclaren is coming 4th (paddling with Brandon van der Walt).

This is a massive achievement, in a field littered with some of the world’s best paddlers including current and former world canoe marathon champions (in senior, U23 and junior categories) as well as many past winners of this race. It is great to see that UCT excels in even the smaller sports. Tomorrow is the final day, and hopefully they can keep up their performance. Good luck guys!!
