Downers II

Following the massive success of Downers in the first semester it was decided to host a second event and bring the power of Downers to Ikeys Vibe in a second semester showdown on the Green Mile on Upper Campus.

The format stayed the same and the Rules were un-altered, but Downers II brought more to the party. Better prizes, new location, new partners and more players made sure that Downers is here to stay and there will be many more in the future for Ikeys Vibe and UCT students.

The winners on the day were the Shebeen boys who were new to the tournament and showed the rest of the field what it meant to play Downers Rugby. They faced off with the Medics in the final who put in a serious campaign again as they did in the previous tournament with their double entry of McDreamy and McSteamy, definitely two forces to be reckoned with.

There was serious growth with ladies getting involved and every team sported 2 ladies on their team and in the case of the Exchange Students who fielded a proudly South African team, dressed as Springboks, half the team was scoring double points.

Downers will be back again in 2013 and will be bigger and better. Make sure we see you there.
