Friday Tag League Finishes

So the Final week of Tag was played last Friday (19 April 2013). It was a great Friday afternoon and a lovely way to wrap up the season before we head off into the dark, wet days of winter. For those still keen to play, Ikeys Vibe has entered 2 teams in the winter TAG Rugby® League and if you are keen to play, please email touch@ikeysvibe.co.za to be included on the team list.

Congratulations to Winner Winner Chicken Dinner for most original name and for winning the league, losing only once to Smuts Hall (the self-named “Kings of Upper Campus”) and walking away with the R4000 prize money. The team is made up of a bunch of mates from digs with their stand-out performer being none other than Hugh “twinkle-toes” van Niekerk who was called upon time and again to make the magic happen in a somewhat Barcelona-Messi dependant kind of way. Special mention to the token girl player, Jess Pollock, who turned up now and again (but more in a supporter role due to different injuries keeping her out).

Second place was tied on points between Smuts and The Butchery and ultimately it was goal-difference which decided it. The boys from Smuts did the business when it counted and came in second and picked up a healthy R2000 for their efforts.

The Butchery (another digs-filled team) were rewarded for their 3rd place finish with R1000 and wrapping it up in the end.

Congrats to the top 3 teams and also to all the teams involved. Hopefully we will have even more teams competing in the next season.
