UCT Rugby Clubhouse Revamp
You haven’t gone to see the new UCT Rugby Centre? It looks freaking awesome and fills any UCT student and alumni with pride.
Finally, after a long and intense process of planning and constructing has finally come to conclusion and the Ikeys Rugby Club are proud owners of new facilities. It is aptly called the Neville Isdell Rugby Centre.
Mr Isdell is an Ikey of the late 60s who went on to be the CEO of Coca Cola International and famously made a significant donation to his former club.
Neville was there to address hand-picked guests who had a tour of the facilities which also feature an Ikeys History wall – an impressive 30 meter experience of UCT rugby history. Starting at the very first team then called SA College from 1882, via the start of Ikeys Maties rivalry in 1911, via Nick Mallet, Chris Pope and other Springbok greats the club produced in the second half of last century, right through to the latest trophies and of course the 2014 Varsity Cup.
A blue and white thread of ‘Running rugby since 1882″ ties together great stories and what is known as the varsity spirit.
